Trauma Responsive Leadership - Self as Leader

This program introduces the Secure Base Leadership framework and invites leaders to reflect on their role in creating environments where people feel safe, supported and able to do their best work. Participants will explore the importance of leadership self-awareness and wellbeing when supporting others, recognising that leaders play a critical role in shaping organisational culture.

Description

This training program explores the application of a trauma lens when supporting teams and individuals who work with complex trauma. Being trauma responsive means both individual and organisation recognise and respond to trauma which can enable change and strengthen resilience and protective factors. A trauma responsive leader embeds trauma informed principles into practice and creates a culture of safety for their team to work from.

The exploration of secure base leadership allows for both safety and exploration in the relationship which builds better client outcomes for staff, as well as greater staff satisfaction and productivity, reduced stress and enhanced well-being for all.

Phase 2 (Trauma Processing) focuses on the application of strategies for safe therapeutic work informed by an understanding of traumatic memory. This training explores dissociation as a continuum, from common experiences in everyday life through to more complex trauma-related dissociation. Participants will develop a deeper understanding of how dissociation can present in people impacted by complex trauma and how it may emerge within therapeutic work, supporting therapists to work safely and effectively with dissociation in therapeutic settings.
